Latisse

Latisse if the first and only FDA approved prescription treatment for inadequate eyelashes. Latisse will help your lashes grow longer, fuller and darker. Latisse is a 0.03% bimatoprost ophthalmic solution used for the treatment of hypotrichosis (inadequate lashes).

There are three phases to the life of your lashes: Anagen-the growth phase, Telogen-the resting phase and Exogen-when the lash falls out. The solution in Latisse helps prolong the Anagen phase which allows the lashes additional time to lengthen, thicken and darken.

Latisse is to be applied once a day, morning or evening, but you should allow it time to dry before applying any make-up or night eye creams. If contact lenses are worn they should be removed during the application process but can be reinserted after fifteen minutes.

Latisse is to be applied by individually packaged, sterile applicators. Instructions dictate that you are to apply one drop to each sterile applicator and use one applicator per eye to avoid any cross contamination. Application is to start at the inner corner of your lash line and extend to the outer edge. Any additional moisture away from the lash line is to be blotted. Latisse is not to be applied to the lower lashes because excess hair growth outside the treatment area may occur. You should avoid applying the solution directly into your eyes.

Growth is gradual so be patient. Applying Latisse more than once a day does not increase the effects of growth. If you miss a night, don’t try to catch up by double applying the following day.

It takes approximately sixteen weeks for your lashes to achieve their optimal growth. To chart your growth it is recommended you mark your calendar at 0, 4, 12 and 16 weeks and take photos. Remember though, lashes will eventually fall out and be replace by new growth. This is why it is important to maintain your new lush lashes.

Be sure to tell your Doctor if you are taking prescriptions for lowering eye pressure or if you have a history of eye pressure problems. Side effects may include: eyelid darkening, increased brown iris pigmentation, itching sensation, eye redness or hair growth in areas Latisse has repeatedly come in contact with.
